Children’s Flight Of Hope Raises $100,000

Despite an uncertain economy, contributions and pledges to the 5th annual "A Vintage Affair", a wine tasting and auction to benefit Children's Flight of Hope, totaled a record breaking $100,000 - raising $25,000 more than last year.

Colonial Carton Company, a Clayton, N.C. based designer and manufacturer of custom folding cartons, was the title sponsor. These contributions will enable Children's Flight of Hope to provide free private air transportation to and from medical facilities for critically ill and injured children throughout North Carolina and the eastern United States.

"I'm excited about the success of this event. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and those who attended the event, who are driven by compassion for our children, we'll be able to help more children than ever," says Amy Carver, Executive Director for Children's Flight of Hope. The event was held on November 13 at the General Aviation Terminal at RDU International Airport.

Local restaurants, including Crosswind's Café, II Palio, Jimmy V's Steakhouse & Tavern, Jujube, Milton's Pizza & Pasta, Rey's Restaurant, Rockfish, Second Empire, Tony's Bourbon Street Oyster Bar and Yoho Asian Bistro provided attendees with samplings of some of their finest dishes that were paired with exceptional wines, donated by Wine Authorities.

Attendees also enjoyed a "classic Hollywood" theme, dance performances by Step to Gold International Ballroom and an appearance from a family who shared their personal story and experiences with Children's Flight of Hope.

Children's Flight of Hope is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide free private air transportation to and from medical facilities for critically ill or injured children (with their families or guardians) who, due to medical, financial, or logistical reasons, are unable to travel to their destinations by any other mode.
