MeadWestvaco Corp. and 3C Packaging Inc. Form Alliance
MeadWestvaco Corp. (Glen Allen, VA) has entered a strategic alliance with 3C Packaging Inc. (Clayton, NC) to better meet the needs of its healthcare customers. 3C Packaging and MWV produce leaflets and inserts for various pharmaceutical companies and this most recent venture enables each company to be more competitive.
"This alliance provides more flexibility, increases capacity levels, and allows MeadWestvaco and 3C Packaging to better answer customer demand," says Joe Elphick, president and CEO, 3C Packaging. "As a result of combining our efforts, 3C Packaging and MeadWestvaco will be able to increase our product offerings to the pharmaceutical sector."
MeadWestvaco will continue to service its adherence packaging customers with customized leaflets while 3C Packaging will produce and market traditional package inserts. Printed inserts that provide dosing instructions, warnings, and other information pertaining to the prescription are essential to helping patients adhere to correctly follow their prescribed drug regimen.
According to a 2009 Deloitte Study, only four out of 10 Americans say they take their medications as directed. MeadWestvaco and 3C Packaging have created customized, printed inserts that stay with the medication package, ensuring the patient has ready access to critical prescription directions and information.
